How To Create A Course On Udemy

How To Create A Course On Udemy | 6 easy steps

Udemy is one of the biggest e-learning marketplaces out there, offering courses ranging from basic English lessons to advanced programming skills.

While it might sound like a great opportunity for those looking to make money online, creating a Udemy course isn’t easy. In fact, it takes skill, experience, and patience to succeed here.

If you’re willing to put in some effort, though, we’ve got some tips and tricks that’ll help you become a successful Udemy instructor.

There are 6 easy steps to how to create a course on Udemy (see also ‘How Does Udemy Work?‘) (see also ‘How Does Udemy Work?‘). Read them all and start learning from the Udemy website.

Choose your subject

The question most people ask themselves when creating a Udemy course is, “What do I want my Udemy course to be about?”

This seems like an obvious one to many people, but there are some things to consider before diving into the process.

First off, you need to think about your audience. Who do you want to learn from your course? Do you want to teach someone how to code, or do you want to teach someone about the history of coding?

Next, you need to figure out what topic you want to cover. If you’re teaching programming, you might choose topics such as data structures, algorithms, or software development.

Or maybe you’d rather focus on something else entirely, like marketing, finance, or even psychology. Whatever it is, you need to decide what subject matter you want to cover.

Finally, you need to look at the current market for courses on that particular topic. Are there already plenty of courses around? Is there enough demand for your course?

First Steps

The next step is to plan out your course. You must decide what you are going to teach and how much time you want to spend teaching it.

How long does it take to learn something like HTML5? What about CSS3? Is there enough information to cover that topic? Do you need to add additional resources?

You could start by writing down everything you know about the subject matter. Then, you can organise your notes into topics and sub-topics, and finally, outline your entire course.

If you feel overwhelmed, don’t worry. There are plenty of free tools online to help you plan your course. One great resource is They offer courses for beginners and experts alike.

You’ve been working hard on creating your Udemy course. You’ve uploaded the videos, written the text, and even recorded your voiceover. Now, it’s time to film your lecture.

Before you start recording, you need to decide whether you will be filming yourself or your computer screen. If you plan to record yourself, there are several things you must consider.

  1. What device do you use?
  2. How much room do you have to work?
  3. Will you be able to edit your footage later?
  4. Is your microphone loud enough?

It might be necessary to invest in some new hardware in order to create a successful course

If you want to make sure that your Udemy course looks good, you must film your lectures. If you don’t do this, you might find out later that you’ve wasted a lot of time and money!

The reason why we say “filming your lecture” is that there are many different ways to record your lecture. You could use a webcam, a smartphone camera, or even a professional recording device.

Perfecting the course

At this stage, you get a chance to edit your videos, cut off the parts where you snorted, swore, or mis-pronounced words. You also get to break down the large footage into smaller chunks and shorter lectures.

You also get to give some thought to the overall look and feel of your course. For example, do you want to keep things simple and clean, or do you want to spice up your presentation with colourful graphics and flashy animations?

There are plenty of free online tools that allow you to make these kinds of changes. In fact, there are even paid options like Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X that offer similar features.

The most popular tool for beginners is probably Windows Movie Maker. While it does offer quite a few features, it doesn’t come with the bells and whistles that professional editors require.

However, you don’t necessarily need to go straight to the big guns. There are several free video editing software that are easy enough to learn and work well enough to produce quality content.

Uploading videos

You’re almost ready to start teaching. But before you do, there are a few things you’ll want to do first.

First, log into your Udemy account. Then, click on ‘teach’ on the navigation bar. Now, select ‘upload videos.’

Here’s where it gets fun. Click on ‘add files,’ navigate to the folder containing your videos, and find the file you’d like to upload. Click on it, and then hit select all.’

Now, you’ll see a list of all the videos you selected. Repeat this step for every video you’d like to upload to Udemy.

Once you’re done uploading your videos, you’ll notice some additional options. You can change the name of your course, add a description, choose categories, and even set the price.

If you decide to offer multiple tiers, you can add different prices for students based on how much they pay. For example, you could charge $10/month for a student who pays nothing, while charging $25/month for those who pay $5 per month.

Course landing page

Your landing page is a vital piece of your marketing strategy. It’s where people go to learn about your product and how it works. You want to make sure it’s clear, compelling, and easy to navigate. Here are six steps to creating a great landing page.

  1. Choose a good name and domain
  2. Write a sales pitch
  3. Create a compelling headline
  4. Add some value
  5. Add some calls to action
  6. Test and optimise

There are lots of ideas online to help make your landing page one that will generate interest so utilise the information to attract as many potential students as possible.
