There are various reliable online learning platforms that can help you improve both your soft and hard skills.
While some are more focused on traditional learning, others provide hour-long classes for particular skills.
Everyone has heard of the large platforms, such as Udacity, Coursera, or edX, however, there are a few small online learning platforms, too, including Domestika.
However, the only question that stands in the way of this online learning platform is whether it can compete with the big giants. Well, you will find out all this and more with the help of this guide.
One feature that sets Domestika apart from some other smaller online learning platforms is the fact that it offers a premium package. However, at an additional Domestika courses cost, is it worth it?
With this in mind, this guide will explore everything you need to know about Domestika, as well as whether or not its Plus plan is worth it.
Let’s get started with this Domestika review and if it teaches Domestika courses
What Is Domestika?
Before we move on to the small details of the company, we will start by introducing you to the company.
Launched in 2017, Domestika is one of the newer online learning platforms available in the market.
Their aim is to connect Spanish-speaking creative people who are looking to learn valuable skills and gain knowledge.
The company itself is based in California, United States. Plus, there are around 500 people working for the platform, with around 1.5 million registered users signing up for new Domestika courses.
The platform started as a small showcase for creatives looking to create connections and learn valuable skills from each other.
However, the company started providing users with online courses to learn from experts in the field and develop new skills – leading to the company it is today.
Domestika offers a wide range of free courses, focusing on a range of different skills. That said, the classes mainly focus on creative skills, including photography, craft, design, and more.
They offer hundreds of creative courses, however, some of the categories include:
- Photography & Video
- Marketing & Business
- 3D & Animation
- Calligraphy & Typography
- Architecture & Spaces
Therefore, regardless of your interests and own pace – whether this includes IT, design, or marketing – you’re sure to find a Domestika course for you that will expand your skills and knowledge.
Domestika Plus At A Glance
Before we jump straight into the Domestika Plus review, you should keep in mind the subscription service the platform offers.
Essentially, all you need to know is that Domestika Plus is a completely optional service – you don’t need the service to learn or expand your creative knowledge.
Although, if you do decide to sign up, you’ll be offered a few benefits, these include a 20% discount on purchases and 7-day access to Domestika’s courses each week.
Plus, you’ll also receive a certification upon completion. That said, these aren’t certified and only contain the teacher’s signature. Therefore, they are not advantageous during the job search.
- Sizeable 20% discount
- Good Open Course selection
- No permanent course library
- No discounts for mobile purchases
Benefits And Discounts
Thanks to Domestika Plus, you’re provided access to a range of benefits and discounts. Some of which include:
- All the courses – Gain access to individual courses each week.
- 20% off all courses – These can be further discounted with special offers and coupon codes.
- Pro badge – This is displayed by your profile image.
- Completion certificates – You’ll receive a certificate upon completion.
- Direct support – Thanks to Domestika’s direct helpline, you can enquire about consultants about questions or troubleshooting you may have.
- Unlimited messaging – In addition to being a learning platform it is also a social media platform for creative – perfect for searching for jobs or collaborations.
- News – Discover updates on what’s happening on the platform.
While the benefits are extremely generous, there are some caveats when it comes to them. For instance, the 20% discount will work with other discount codes, however, Domestika works on gift purchases or course bundles.
That said, these bundles are already discounted generously.
One of the bigger concerns is that the discounts don’t apply to in-app purchases. Moreover, we don’t recommend making purchases through the app since it tends to be finicky.
That said, with some quick math, it isn’t hard to see how easy it is to get your money back. Discluding all the other benefits, it only takes multiple courses to make the most of your subscription fee.
One of the biggest benefits when it comes to the Domestika Plus plan is its Open Courses.
Here, they offer access to individual classes for up to 7 days – each starts on a Monday.
You’ll receive a grand total of 52 courses over a year – these include in-depth Domestika Basics courses, too.
However, you aren’t offered access to additional forums, Domestika basics course materials, or big final projects. However, without these, you can still make the most of the course.
The only constraint is the 7-day time limit. While this is plenty of time to complete the smaller courses, the large ones – including Domestika Basics courses – can run up to 10 hours long.
Plus, once the timer is up, you can’t go back and reference any points.
That said, during and after the course, each Domestika Pro Open Course is discounted to $10. Plus, with the 20% discount, this is reduced further.
The great thing about this perk is that you can explore most courses that you would never have imagined taking unless they were “free” – expanding your knowledge even further.
You should keep in mind that with each Open Course you complete, that is $10 saved. Therefore, you can see that this adds up quickly – allowing you to make the most of your subscription.
How Much Is Domestika Pro?
Typically, Domestika Pro costs $59 a year, however, there are sometimes special offers that lower the price to $29.90 (or €29.90) a year.
This works out at the same price for 3 discounted courses or less than the price of one full course which usually costs $40.
Once you divide this cost throughout the year, it comes to less than $2.50 a month.
Another benefit is that they have a 14-day refund policy. Therefore, if you’re unsatisfied or unsure about the service then you can always change your mind and get your money back.
When it comes to other online learning platforms, there is no shortage of them on the internet these days.
However, not only do you have to fish out the good from the bad ones but also choose the right platform for you, too.
This is where Domestika comes in. Despite being one of the smaller platforms, they have certainly made a name for themselves – and continue to grow each year!
In addition to offering bespoke services, they also provide users with a Plus package where they can use most of the services offered by the platform.
Not only is this affordable but will allow courses to be taught offered on the platform.
Hopefully, this guide has helped you determine whether or not Domestika Plus is worth it.
