5 Best Masterclass Dancing Courses (2023)

Dancing is an incredible skill to have. Not only is it great for keeping fit, but it can also be cathartic, creative, and overall incredibly beneficial to your mental well-being.

Through dance, you can train your mind and your body to perform in unison, but how do you get started?

There are a lot of dance schools around the country that you could try, but what if you’re wanting to learn the fundamentals or the history?

Unless you’ve been to dance school since you were a child, you may find it difficult to know where to get started, but luckily, Masterclass has you sorted.

Throughout their library of courses on different master classes, we have sourced 5 great dance-related classes that you can try to improve your dancing whether you’re brushing up on your skills or starting completely from scratch.

Let’s read the list of masterclass dancing courses you can try in 2023.

What is Masterclass

In 2015, Masterclass was first established with the intention to give people access to genius. It is increasingly difficult for a lot of people to afford college or college-level classes.

Masterclass makes these incredible courses accessible to people on a subscription basis.

All based online – though some classes have workbooks to go through as well – Masterclass provides unbelievable courses on a massive range of subjects, all from world-class experts.

Everything from cooking with Gordon Ramsay to filmmaking with Martin Scorsese.

What really makes Masterclass stand out is the intense production value – everything looks and sounds amazing.

This makes it even easier to engage with the material – even if you’re not particularly interested in the subject, they’re worth watching like mini-documentaries.

How Much Does Masterclass Cost?

Masterclass currently has three subscription offers that are billed annually. The cost of these (per month) is:

  • Individual (1 user) $15
  • Duo (2 users) $20
  • Family (6 users) $23

Now, if these were billed monthly it might not be too bad, but at the moment, Masterclass only bills annually. Which ends up looking like a scary upfront cost.

However, you can considerably reduce your costs by taking as many courses as possible.

With over 150 courses on the platform, you’re likely to find quite a few to interest you.

Even if you buy an individual membership and find only 10% of the courses of interest this still works out to only $12 a course (don’t worry, I did the math so you don’t have to).

And if you join with friends or family then the cost of each course is drastically reduced.

Bearing in mind that these and other classes are taught by global leaders in their fields the value is unbeatable.

You can pay over $100 for an online course taught by someone you’ve never even heard of, never mind the caliber of teachers on Masterclass

If you’re really committed to learning new skills, Masterclass is absolutely the best value for money that you’ll find anywhere.

5 Best Dance Courses

Now onto the main bulk of this article on master class: the dancers. This list involves a big variety of performers, all of which will support your dancing education.

But enough rambling, here are our picks for the best dancers courses available on Masterclass where students can learn hip hop in their own style:

Best Masterclass Dancing Courses

Misty Copeland Teaches Ballet Technique and Artistry

Course Length: 1 Hour and 46 Minutes || 17 Lessons

The first African American female principal dancer at the American Ballet, Misty Copeland has quickly become one of the world’s most influential dancers.

This course invites you to get a fresh perspective on dance, and ballet in particular.

Through the course, you will be given clear demonstrations of how to perform certain movements, as well as philosophies and ideals that can be applied to all aspects of dance and exercise in general.

The only downside is that you can’t get any feedback on your performance or posture, which makes it difficult to know whether you’re actually doing the right thing.

However, in terms of gaining the fundamentals and basic knowledge from one of the world’s best ballet dancers, there’s nothing that compares.

Parris Goebel Masterclass Review

Parris Goebel Teaches Creativity in Choreography

Course Length: 2 Hours and 6 Minutes || 14 Lessons

As an award-winning choreographer, Parris Goebel has worked with icons like Justine Bieber and Jennifer Lopez.

Throughout her Masterclass, you’ll learn more about her career, as well as how to connect with music on a more fundamental level.

Goebel provides a step-by-step process for how to create dance routines, and build your confidence as a dancer and choreographer.

Having watched this one for this list, I found myself very inspired and put into a massively creative head-space, and I don’t even dance.

The only cons I could think of for this course is the fact that it is mostly geared towards choreography for music videos, rather than the act of dancing itself, however, there are a lot of transferable skills.

5 Best Masterclass Dancing Courses (2023) 1

Usher Teaches The Art of Performance

Course Length: 2 Hours and 29 Minutes || 16 Videos

Usher is an 8-time Grammy award-winning artist who has been entertaining audiences for over 25 years.

Through this course, he teaches about performance, how to prepare for live performances, and create a personal brand.

Though I think that the whole course is worth your time, as he is a captivating and charismatic teacher, there are specific lessons that cover dancing and reviewing your own performances.

This course is not tailored to just dancing, but includes a lot of transferable skills that will be very valuable to learn.
